Hi blessed ones,

I hope the start of this week was fueled by the love of Jesus in our hearts. This first issue of Share-The-Word this week will be about our journey as believers here on earth.

Christianity of today focuses so much on the state of the “new creation” man, that we don’t pay attention to the weaknesses the soul of a regenerated man carries at that point of new birth. We usually still find ourselves doing the wrong things even after we have confessed Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and this is because there is still more work to be done. Actually, new birth is the beginning of the journey of salvation of the soul not the final destination. The spirit of man carries the fullness of God at new birth (Col 2:9-10) but the soul is an entity that can limit the expression of this fullness if work is not done on it. The soul is not just a faculty to be renewed, he is an entity that also needs a rebirth, a purification (1 Peter 1:22). The spirit has attained righteousness (2 Cor. 5:21) but it takes the rebirth of the soul to do righteousness. The book of John 3:3-5 explains that there is a further birthing that needs to occur after new birth (born again).
John 3:3-5: Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot SEE the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot ENTER the kingdom of God.

Note that the kingdom of God is not a place, it is a life style, a character formation we should attain here on earth. Rom 4:17 says the kingdom of God is neither meat nor drink, it is righteousness, peace and joy in the holy Ghost. Also take note of the two words SEE and ENTER. To SEE the kingdom, and start seeing possibility of being righteous, it only takes being born again. To do what is right will further take another process which involves intense fellowship with the word of God i.e. birthing by WATER (Word) and SPIRIT (obedience to the leading of the spirit).

1 John 2:29: If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who DOES what is right has been born of him.

For that RIGHTEOUSNESS and POWER bestowed on the spirit of a new creation man to find expression, there must be a birth process done in the soul, the salvation of the soul. This is not automatic; it takes a walk (fellowship) with our Lord Jesus through his word.

James 1:21: Therefore, lay aside all filthiness and superfluity of wickedness and receive with meekness the engrafted word of God which is able to save your soul.

Apostle James was talking to a church here; they were born again but he needed to tell them that there is still more to be done. As we spend time with the word and do what it says, we realize that we begin to change for the better, we start leaving dirty habits behind, our thought pattern will start changing, level of hunger for God increases, then we start bearing fruits which is the ultimate goal of the father.

John 15:2: He cuts off every branch in me that does not bear fruit, while every branch that bears fruit he prunes so that it might bear more fruit.

This was the same process God took Jesus through and he became perfect in God’s eyes.

1 John 2:6- He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as Jesus walked.

Brothers and sisters, spiritual growth is a decision we all have to make, may the lord help us all.
